Seeing Red

Last weekend, I got to photograph the Phillies game when the Reds were in town. As you can tell, there was a lot of red in the stadium on this day. Really wreaked havoc on my white balance, but that's just a minor problem when you're photographing a baseball game, I guess. :)

I've only done a handful of pro games in my career, but half of them have been 1-0 finals. That can be a good thing, if there's good defensive plays and such, but if all you have are strikeouts and can o'corn fly balls, you're a little stuck.

There were two replay reviews, which is where the Joey Votto stretching photo came from. Tthe Phanatic will always produce fun photos. And, around 4 o'clock, the sun comes in at an interesting angle. I was going to go up in the stands to get a shot of Lidge (slide 29) with his shadow behind him, but, again, when you're final is 1-0 things move a little faster than you expect! Still like the one I got of Lidge though. One other note about Lidge. I've never heard anybody who's had so much success, get booed by his home crowd as much as Lidge did when he came in. In 2008 he was 41 for 41 in save chances! Now, granted, he was pretty much terrible last year, but still. Philly needs to lighten up a little! I guess if Santa Claus doesn't have a chance, Brad Lidge doesn't either.
